About Studio M Mastering

Studio M Mastering was founded by Michael Maughan former Chief
Mastering Engineer of 4 years at SuperDigital in Portland, Oregon.  Studio
M Mastering started in late 1993 in an effort to provide high quality,
affordable audio mastering to independent artists and musicians.  Studio
M incorporates some of the finest audio equipment available in its
mastering.

You may ask yourself what exactly is mastering?

In simple terms mastering is the final artistic step before duplication.  It
provides a macro focus of the album.  Taking into consideration, EQ,
Sequencing, Volume, Spacing, Noise Reduction, and dynamic range
among others.

Why should I get my CD mastered?

Like the previous answer, mastering provides your album with a macro
focus making it sound and feel like one piece of art, rather than many little
pieces of art just put on a disc.  Mastering also gives your CD that
competitive edge allowing the best possible representation of your project
on many playback systems.

Why does my CD sound like my mix, only better?

Mastering is a art of subtlety.  Mastering is there to enhance what you
already have and maximize its potential.  Not put an individual mastering
engineer stamp on it.  You have spent upwards of hundreds of hours on
your project and the last thing you want is someone to add their stamp to
it.  You want personalized attention, with someone that knows how things
will translate in real world listening environments.  This is why you should
choose Studio M Mastering for your next  project.
